Taher Al-Baour, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for the Government of National Unity, accompanied by Alaa al-Din al-Tajouri, Director of the Ministry’s African Affairs Department, arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday, to participate in the 49th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.

Al-Baour and his delegation were received by Libya’s Permanent Representative to the African Union, Mohamed Adam Leno, along with a number of representatives from the Protocol Department of the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, according to a post by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on its Facebook page.

The Executive Council, with the participation of foreign ministers and representatives of member states, is scheduled to discuss a number of issues on its agenda, foremost among which are strengthening joint African action, following up on the implementation of African Union resolutions, and addressing issues related to peace, security, sustainable development, and continental integration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that Libya’s participation in this session reaffirms its commitment to supporting the African Union’s efforts and strengthening cooperation and coordination with African countries, in a manner that serves mutual interests and contributes to achieving stability and sustainable development on the African continent.
