The General Directorate of Criminal Investigation announced on Friday, the arrest of a gang consisting of two men and two women, in the Abdul Kafi neighborhood of Sebha.
They have been charged with the kidnapping of irregular migrants, detaining them in cells, and demanding ransoms from their families.
The directorate carried out a raid that resulted in the arrest of the gang and the release of 79 kidnapped migrants, including 14 women, according to a statement.
Investigations showed that the gang lured African migrants into the city of Sebha under the pretext of providing them with work, then detained them in cells, and called their families to demand ransom.
