Mohamed Al-Qaryou, Minister of Education for the Government of National Unity, confirmed the opening of more than 340 schools as part of the “Return to Life” plan and the delivery of more than 90% of textbooks to the ministry’s warehouses, noting that distribution operations have begun to 7,534 schools.

The announcement came during Al-Qaryou’s meeting with the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tripoli on Sunday to brief him on the ministry’s operational status and the progress of its plans and programs as part of preparations for the new school year, according to the “Our Government” platform.

The platform stated on its Facebook page that Al-Qaryou presented to Dabaiba the ministry’s programs in the areas of training and development, which include the implementation of academic and vocational programs to enhance the competence of teachers and administrators, as well as the promotion of digital transformation initiatives, foremost among which is the launch of the Educational Indicators Platform, which relies on the transition from paper-based data to comprehensive and accurate real-time data, thereby enhancing planning efficiency, supporting decision-making, and improving performance monitoring at various levels.

More Than 90% of Textbooks Supplied and 340 Schools Opened

Regarding textbooks, Al-Qaryou confirmed that “more than 90% of textbooks have been delivered to the Ministry’s warehouses,” noting that “the plan to distribute them to 7,534 educational institutions has begun, with distribution to all educational institutions set to be fully completed by the end of August, ensuring readiness before the start of the school year .”

The Minister of Education also reviewed the latest developments in infrastructure development projects for the education sector, emphasizing that “ “more than 340 schools have been opened as part of the ‘Return to Normal Life’ plan,” noting that “coordination with the Agency for the Development and Improvement of Administrative Centers is ongoing to complete their equipping and furnishing with desks and educational materials, thereby providing a suitable learning environment for students.”

Dabaiba Urges Al-Qaryou to Complete the Equipping of Educational Institutions

For his part, Dabaiba urged the Minister of Education to adhere to the approved timelines for completing the equipping of educational institutions, ensure the delivery of textbooks before the start of the school year, continue implementing training programs for educational staff, and accelerate the digital transformation process—all of which will contribute to raising the sector’s efficiency and improving the quality of the educational process.

The “Our Government” platform noted that Dabaiba’s meeting with Al-Qaryou concluded with a review of several organizational and administrative matters, including educational inspections and guidance, the regulation of private education, and the new regulations adopted by the Ministry governing the duties of education supervisors and school principals, as part of efforts to develop educational administration and enhance institutional performance.
