The Eastern Region Maritime Rescue Division reported the deaths of six people and the rescue of seven others over the past two days.

The official spokesperson for the Maritime Rescue Department, Hatem al-Haj Ali, said in a statement to Alwasat on Saturday that Friday saw five drowning incidents, resulting in the deaths of three young men and a girl off the coast of Derna, while another young man was rescued.

Rescue of Young People in Derna, Daryana, and Benghazi

Rescue teams also managed to save five young men in separate incidents, including three in Derna, one in Daryana, and another in Benghazi; all are in good health.

Last Thursday, three drowning incidents were reported: one involving a young man in his twenties, another involving a three-year-old child in a swimming pool, and a third in which rescue teams managed to save a young girl who had nearly drowned in a swimming pool. She received the necessary first aid, and her condition was described as “good.”

According to the statistics, the total number of incidents over the two days reached 13, resulting in six deaths and seven rescues.

The Maritime Rescue Department called on citizens to adhere to safety guidelines and avoid taking risks at sea or in swimming pools, emphasizing the need to supervise children to save lives.
