Man-Made River Authority: Power Outage Takes 143 Wells Offline at the Sarir and Tazerbou Fields

The Authority for the Implementation and Management of the Man-Made River Project announced on Thursday, that 143 wells had been taken out of service at the Sarir and Tazerbou fields due to a power outage in the fields resulting from the shutdown of the first unit at the Sarir gas-fired power plant.

The authority explained that the power outage occurred at 6:52 a.m., causing 51 wells in the Tazerbou field and 92 wells in the Sarir field to shut down, according to a statement posted on its Facebook page.

Power Restored at 8:00 a.m.

It added that power was restored at 8:00 a.m., at which point technical teams began work to restart the wells.

The authority noted that, to protect the pipeline system and maintain the water level in the Ajdabiya reservoir, water supply to some cities and areas will be reduced for 24 hours starting this morning.

It emphasized that this measure was taken due to circumstances beyond its control and responsibility.
