On Sunday, Al-Jawf Municipality launched joint patrols with the Agricultural Police to inspect farms and cattle and sheep markets, which have been temporarily closed until further notice as part of preventive measures to curb the spread of foot-and-mouth disease.

This decision followed a meeting chaired by the mayor of Al-Jawf and attended by the head of the Agricultural Police branch in Kufra, the head of the Municipal Guard branch, the agriculture sector coordinator, representatives from the Environmental Health Office, and a veterinarian, as part of efforts to implement precautionary measures to limit the spread of the disease, according to a statement from the Agricultural Police.

Disinfection and Sterilization Campaign to Prevent the Spread of Foot-and-Mouth Disease in Warshafana

On Saturday, the National Center for Animal Health announced the launch of an emergency spraying, disinfection, and sterilization campaign in the city of Warshafana, southwest of the capital Tripoli, as part of the urgent national plan aimed at limiting the spread of “foot-and-mouth disease” and protecting livestock.

The center stated that field veterinary teams are working to disinfect barns by spraying various livestock farms and targeted sites, in accordance with approved technical procedures and biosecurity guidelines, with the aim of reducing the chances of disease transmission and strengthening preventive measures.
