The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Libya announced that 829 Syrian nationals have returned from Libya to their home country since November 2025, as part of the voluntary return program organized by the agency.

Anne-Marie Kerrigan Derish, UNHCR’s Senior Advisor for External Relations, said in a press statement that the most recent flight took place on June 6 and carried 52 Syrians who departed by air from Tripoli to Damascus, according to the Libyan news agency.

390 Syrians Returned to Their Homeland in 2026

She added that the number of Syrians who returned this year reached 390, bringing the total number of voluntary returnees to Syria since the program’s launch in November 2025 to 829.

The UNHCR announced earlier that approximately 1.4 million Syrian refugees have returned to Syria, in addition to nearly 2 million internally displaced persons who have returned to their areas of origin since the fall of the Assad regime.
