Abdulhamid Dabaiba, head of Libya's Government of National Unity, arrived in Doha to offer his condolences on the death of former Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 74, according to the Qatar News Agency.
Upon his arrival at Hamad International Airport, Dabaiba and his accompanying delegation were received by Minister of Transportation Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani and the Acting Chargé d’Affaires at the Libyan Embassy in Doha, Faraj Mohammed Al-Araibi.
On Sunday, the Qatari Amiri Diwan announced the death of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who ruled Qatar from 1995 to 2013, noting that a four-day period of national mourning had been declared throughout the State of Qatar.
Earlier on Monday, thousands of worshippers performed the funeral prayer for the late Emir at the Imam Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab Mosque in the Qatari capital, Doha, with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, leading the congregation of worshippers and mourners.
