The branches of the Agency for Combating Illegal Immigration in Al-Butnan and Ajdabiya deported 165 irregular migrants as part of the security plan being implemented to combat this phenomenon and strengthen security and stability in various regions.
The agency explained in a statement that the Al-Butnan branch deported 127 irregular migrants, who were divided into two groups; the first group departed via the deportation unit at the Musaid land border crossing, while the second group was transferred to the shelter and deportation center in Benghazi to complete legal procedures, according to the Libyan News Agency.
It noted that the operation is part of the implementation of the agency’s leadership’s security plan, which aims to combat irregular migration and apprehend violators, thereby contributing to strengthening security and stability, upholding the rule of law, and preserving national security and public order.
38 irregular migrants deported from Ajdabiya
In the same context, the Ajdabiya branch of the Agency for Combating Illegal Migration carried out the deportation of 38 irregular migrants from the Ajdabiya shelter to the Greater Benghazi branch, in preparation for completing the procedures for their return to their home countries in accordance with established legal and humanitarian standards.
The agency stated that the migrants involved in the transfer were of eight nationalities: Bangladesh, Pakistan, Eritrea, Ivory Coast, Yemen, Morocco, Nigeria, and Niger.
It confirmed that the operation was carried out under the direct supervision of the director of the agency’s branch in Ajdabiya, with oversight from the directors of the agency’s branches in the Central and Southeastern regions, as part of ongoing coordination among the branches to ensure the efficiency of accommodation and deportation procedures.
The agency added that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to regulate the status of arrivals and curb the phenomenon of illegal immigration, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of security operations and contributing to stability.
It emphasized the continued implementation of its security and field plans to combat illegal immigration and the taking of necessary legal measures against violators, while adhering to established humanitarian standards during the shelter and deportation phases.
