The Security Support and Assistance Agency announced the discovery of a charred body inside a vehicle and the death of a person who succumbed to his injuries upon arrival at the hospital for treatment, without specifying the location of the incident, while local news pages reported that the incident occurred in Janzour, west of Tripoli.

The agency, affiliated with the Government of National Unity, stated on its Facebook page that its Office of Investigations and Evidence Collection “began its field operations on Thursday, following a report of a burned vehicle at a certain location.”

Inspection of the Accident Site

It explained that members of the agency immediately went to the scene to conduct an initial inspection and field examination, “revealing the presence of a charred deceased person inside the vehicle, while another injured person was found; he was treated and transported to the hospital for treatment, but he later died from his injuries.”

It added that “traces of gunfire were observed on the vehicle’s body,” confirming that his office’s Criminal Investigation and Evidence Collection Unit “has begun procedures to gather information and evidence and has opened an incident report, while continuing investigative work to uncover the circumstances of the incident and take the necessary legal measures.”

Identity of the Victims

Local social media pages reported that the incident resulted from the explosion of a hand grenade inside the car, noting that the victims were: Muhammad Nour al-Din al-Ahmar and Abdullah Fathi al-Mashat.

No official statement regarding the incident has been issued by official authorities, including the Janzour Security Directorate or the Ministry of the Interior of the Interim Government of National Unity.
