Rafaa Al-Araibi, head of the Libyan Authority for Heritage and Wildlife, discussed with Belarusian Minister of Natural Resources Maxim Lysenko ways to strengthen joint cooperation in the areas of nature reserve protection and environmental monitoring, as part of Libya’s efforts to benefit from Belarusian expertise in preserving biodiversity and developing mechanisms for monitoring natural ecosystems.

The talks, which took on Monday, addressed the possibility of transferring Belarusian expertise to Libya in the areas of protected area management and the development of environmental monitoring systems, as well as the exchange of technical and professional expertise related to the protection of wildlife and natural resources, according to Belarusian media reports.

This step is part of Libya’s efforts to develop the environmental sector and nature reserves, and to strengthen environmental monitoring programs, particularly in light of the challenges associated with desertification, climate change, and the protection of biodiversity.
