UK Ambassador Reynolds Visits Gharyan

The British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, visited the city of Gharyan on Tuesday, marking his first visit of its kind to the Western Mountains region. The ambassador praised the city and posted on his social media accounts at the start of the visit: “I'm looking forward to experiencing more of this remarkable city, starting with this wonderful view. Let's start the day!”

Among his activities, the ambassador met with members of the municipal council in a meeting he described as wonderful, noting that he learned about their efforts to provide basic services and strengthen ties between communities in the Western Mountains.

British Ambassador Visits University of Gharyan

He also visited the University of Gharyan accompanied by the embassy team and discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between the UK and Libya in the field of higher education.

Finally, Ambassador Reynolds took a tour of the Center for Traditional Arts and Crafts in Gharyan, commenting: “It was incredible to see the skill and heritage that define this city. Thank you for the beautiful gift”

An important visit to the Municipal Council in Gharyan

In addition, the Municipal Council stated that the ambassador’s visit reflects Gharyan’s standing and its wealth of scientific, cultural, and social potential and assets.

The Council added: “This visit underscores the importance of building effective partnerships and opening broader horizons for cooperation, particularly in areas related to training, student support, and attention to cultural and developmental aspects.”

It praised the communication and support for joint work with the British Embassy “in a manner befitting the city of Gharyan, its history, and its vital role.”
