The Housing and Utilities Projects Implementation Authority announced on Thursday that field work is continuing to complete the various phases of the project to construct a stormwater drainage line stretching from the Bivi area of Tripoli, to the sea.
The authority said in a statement that work is proceeding at an “accelerated pace” and includes “deep excavation and pipeline laying, as well as concrete work and steel reinforcement for the main channels,” under the direct and close supervision of supervising engineers to ensure implementation in accordance with the highest approved technical specifications.
The project aims to fundamentally resolve the problem of rainwater accumulation in the area, ensure traffic flow, and maintain public safety throughout the year, according to the statement.
Implementation of the first phase of the project began last November.
