Hatem Belhaj Ali, spokesperson for the Eastern Region Maritime Rescue Department, announced that the bodies of three young men who went missing following a drowning incident last Friday off the Sabri area had been recovered after search and rescue operations that lasted for hours.

In a statement Alwasat, Ali said that the bodies found and recovered belonged to Abdullah Muhammad Hasballah al-Tabawi and Abu Bakr Muhammad Hasballah al-Tabawi, both from Libya, as well as Ibrahim Abdul-Moneim al-Hajj from Sudan.

The bodies were transported to the Benghazi Medical Center

Ali explained that the recovery operations were carried out by Coast Guard teams and the 20/20 unit affiliated with the General Command, after the bodies were found floating in the sea at a relatively distant location from the drowning site, as a result of currents.

The bodies were transported to the Benghazi Medical Center to complete the necessary legal and medical procedures, while the head of the Benghazi Maritime Rescue Unit, Colonel Salem Masoud Al-Maadani, took charge of identifying the victims and following up on official procedures.

He confirmed that the rescue unit is continuing the search for the fourth missing person, noting that the nature of drowning incidents may cause the body to float to the surface later due to gases and ocean currents.

Deaths from Swimming Amid Rough Seas

Authorities have been warning citizens for days against entering the sea during this period, despite high temperatures, due to high waves and currents caused by rough seas that hinder safe swimming.

This situation has led to numerous deaths from drowning incidents along the coasts of Benghazi and eastern regions, with the city recording eight deaths on Friday, while the Ras Lanuf area recorded one drowning; most of the victims were young people.
