The President of the High Council of State, Muhammad Takala, accompanied by Council members Masoud Abied and Abdelati Abukatif, discussed with the Secretary-General of the Arab Maghreb Union, Tarek Ben Salem, ways to develop joint Maghreb cooperation, strengthen coordination and cooperation mechanisms among member states, and address the main challenges and obstacles and ways to overcome them.
This took place on the sidelines of the “Russia–Islamic World: Kazan Forum 2026” held in the Republic of Tatarstan on Friday, according to a statement from the High Council of State.
Activating the Institutions of the Arab Maghreb Union
Takala emphasized the importance of pushing to activate the institutions of the Arab Maghreb Union, in line with international changes and the accelerating formation of regional blocs and alliances witnessed worldwide.
He also stressed the need to unite efforts to build an effective Arab Maghreb Union capable of keeping pace with regional and international transformations, in a manner that serves the peoples of the Arab Maghreb countries and enhances opportunities for integration and cooperation in the economic, political, security, and development fields.
