Authorities in Trinidad and Tobago allowed a Ukrainian aircraft bound for Libya to depart following an investigation into a shipment of explosives that had not been listed in the official cargo manifest, a violation of international aviation security regulations.

The Trinidad and Tobago Airports Authority said in a statement that the CVK-708 aircraft, arriving from the Bahamas, landed in Trinidad on May 14, 2026, for a technical stop and refueling, and was en route to Libya, according to the First Post website.

The statement added that during an inspection of the aircraft, immigration officers discovered explosive materials that were not listed in the official cargo documentation, which was deemed a violation of international aviation and security protocols.

Consequently, the aircraft and its Ukrainian crew were temporarily detained, and an investigation was launched involving several local and international security and regulatory agencies, including customs, the police, the Special Investigations Unit, and other security bodies.

The statement clarified that technical and legal investigations concluded that neither the pilot nor the crew bore any direct responsibility, and the aircraft and its crew were subsequently granted permission to continue their flight and leave the country.
