The local youth council elections in Libya saw growing participation among young people, with a total of 68,034 registered voters across various municipalities, a sign of increasing awareness of the importance of participating in local governance, strengthening the role of youth in decision-making, and contributing to development efforts in their communities.

The municipality of Zliten topped the list with 7,362 voters, followed by the municipality of Bani Walid with 5,082 voters, and then the municipality of Misrata, which registered 4,672 voters.

In contrast, the municipality of Al-Awata had the fewest registered voters, with a total of only 651.

The figures revealed a growing interest among Libyan youth in participating in local elections, amid hopes that youth councils will help strengthen young people’s presence in society and support their involvement in development and service-related issues within the municipalities.
