Dabaiba discusses strengthening bilateral cooperation and investment with French Ambassador Vallat

On Sunday, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, head of the Government of National Unity” discussed with Thierry Vallat, France’s Ambassador to Libya, issues of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, particularly in economic fields, and ways to strengthen partnership and investment opportunities in support of development and stability efforts in Libya.

The official “Our Government” platform stated on its Facebook page that the meeting addressed developments in economic and commercial activity, as well as ways to expand the presence of French companies in the Libyan market, in light of “the economic momentum and accelerating development projects the country is witnessing.”

It quoted the French ambassador as affirming his country’s interest in strengthening economic cooperation with Libya, noting the increase in French activity through the broad participation of French companies and entities in recent economic events, and the openness to business and investment opportunities within the Libyan market.

French Commitment to Libya’s Unity

Last Thursday, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, during his meeting with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Libya, Hanna Tetteh, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to Libya’s unity, stability, and sovereignty.

The French minister reiterated his country’s support for the UN mediation efforts in Libya to revive the Libyan political process and organize the elections long awaited by the Libyan people.
