The Tobruk branch of the Red Crescent announced that it had rescued 68 irregular migrants off the city’s coast.
A boat belonging to the Tobruk Coast Guard, which is part of the General Command, located the boat which had faced difficult conditions at sea before being rescued, according to a statement the branch posted on its Facebook page on Sunday.
The branch provided first aid and necessary humanitarian assistance to the migrants as part of a partnership project with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), “within the framework of ongoing humanitarian efforts to protect lives and alleviate the suffering of migrants.”
