Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler met on Friday with Deputy Commander of the General Command Forces Saddam Haftar and Defense Minister for the Government of National Unity, Lieutenant General Abdulsalam Al-Zoubi, in Istanbul.

The Turkish Ministry of Defense said that Haftar and Al-Zoubi were in Istanbul to attend the Saha 2026 Expo, an event dedicated to the defense, aviation, and space industries.

Turkey has recently been working to strengthen military ties with both the General Command forces and those affiliated with the Government of National Unity; military units from both sides participated in the international tactical exercise EFES 2026 in the Turkish city of Izmir between late April and early May.

$8 Billion in Investments at SAHA 2026

The SAHA 2026 Expo began on May 5, during which export agreements worth a massive $8 billion were signed, according to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

More than 1,700 companies from 120 countries are participating in the expo, which was visited on Friday by UAE Deputy Prime Minister Mansour bin Zayed, who said he had reviewed the latest developments and advanced technologies in the defense industry sector.
