Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, discussed with a high-level delegation from the Italian Parliament the latest developments in Libya’s political landscape, bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and the issue of illegal migration. Saleh received the Italian parliamentary delegation, led by Lorenzo Guerini, Chairman of the Italian Parliamentary Committee on Security, at his office in his residence in Al-Qubbah, in the presence of the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Gianluca Alberini.

The Media Office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives stated that the meeting “discussed the latest political and economic developments, reviewing prospects for joint economic cooperation and boosting investment in vital sectors, in addition to discussing the issue of illegal migration.”
The office added via its Facebook page that the meeting “emphasized the need to support Libyan state institutions and develop their capabilities in border management, as well as adopt comprehensive developmental and humanitarian approaches to address this phenomenon and achieve stability in the region.”
The Italian parliamentary delegation’s visit to Tripoli
The Italian parliamentary delegation arrived in Al-Qubbah from Tripoli, which it visited on Wednesday, and during which it met with the head of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, the President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, and the heads of the Council’s specialized committees.
