The Libyan Red Crescent Society announced on Sunday, that a recovery team from the society’s Sorman branch had recovered the body of an unidentified migrant as part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts carried out in the region.

The society confirmed via its Facebook page that the body was transferred to the morgue at Sorman Teaching Hospital to complete the necessary legal and medical procedures to identify the individual and determine the cause of death.

It added that the recovery and transport operation was carried out with the accompaniment of the Northern Sorman Police Station, noting that this operation took place within the framework of joint coordination with the relevant authorities, in a step that reflects cooperation between humanitarian and security institutions to ensure that such cases are handled in accordance with legal and humanitarian frameworks.

The Red Crescent Society noted that the efforts of the protection and migration response teams continue to monitor the conditions of migrants and provide necessary support, especially in emergency situations, thereby strengthening the humanitarian response and preserving the dignity of the deceased.
