The Red Crescent Society announced that teams from its Tobruk branch participated in the rescue of ten boats carrying 404 irregular migrants of various nationalities, after they were exposed to harsh conditions at sea.
The teams provided first aid and necessary humanitarian support to the migrants as part of ongoing efforts to protect lives and alleviate the suffering of those stranded, within the framework of a partnership project with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), according to a statement posted by the Society on its Facebook page today, Thursday.
It is worth noting that a wave of bad weather caused a migrant boat to sink last Sunday off the coast of Tobruk, resulting in the deaths of approximately 11 migrants.
