Lieutenant General Khalid Haftar, Chief of the General Staff of the General Command, held a meeting on Thursday, with a number of security leaders from the Tebu community at the General Command Headquarters in the Rajma district of Benghazi, in the presence of Issa Abdulmajeed, Minister Plenipotentiary for African Affairs in the government appointed by the House of Representatives.

During the meeting, Haftar emphasized the importance of continuous coordination and cooperation between security forces and military units in the southern regions, praising “security personnel from various tribes who contribute to this effort, including members of the Tebu tribes who did not hesitate to defend the homeland and sacrifice their lives for it, fought terrorism, and contributed to its defeat,” according to a post by the General Staff’s Facebook page.

He said: “We value these sacrifices, and we are now working to resolve any obstacles in this vital region so that it may flourish, progress, and receive its share of reconstruction and security, especially since it is under attack. We realize that the task is difficult, but it is not impossible; with will, determination, and sincerity, we will achieve what we want.”

In his remarks to the audience, the Chief of Staff of the General Command emphasized the need for constant vigilance and readiness “to thwart those who seek to undermine our tribes and drag their sons into conflicts and strife that do not serve the nation and harm its stability.”
