Libya and the United Arab Emirates agreed to develop a roadmap for joint cooperation in the fields of the environment and climate change, as well as to develop joint action plans to support food security and agricultural development.
This agreement was reached during a meeting between Abdul Latif Al-Taher, Minister of Agriculture and Livestock of the Government of National Unity, and the UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment, Amna bint Abdullah Al-Dhahak, in the Italian capital, Rome.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 38th session of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Conference, where the two sides discussed ways to strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation between the two countries in a number of vital sectors related to agriculture and the environment, according to a statement published on the government’s Facebook page.
The two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in the areas of developing improved seeds, combating desertification, and regulating the registration procedures for veterinary medicines and vaccines, thereby contributing to supporting agricultural production, enhancing its efficiency, and achieving sustainability.
The two sides also agreed to form joint technical teams to prepare a roadmap for joint action programs aimed at developing the food security and agricultural development sectors, serving the mutual interests of both countries.
