The Libyan Red Crescent Society announced on Monday that it had recovered four bodies in response to reports received from the Al-Khatir Police Station and the Al-Qardaba Police Station, which indicated that the bodies were from the boat that sank off the coast of Tobruk.
Red Crescent teams from Tobruk, accompanied by search and rescue teams from the General Directorate of Coastal Security, carried out the recovery operations despite difficult conditions, according to a statement by the Society on its Facebook page.
The bodies were handed over to the medical center’s morgue to complete the necessary procedures.
Boat Sinks Off the Coast of Tobruk
On Sunday, the Red Crescent Society received a report regarding a distress call at sea, which was relayed to the Coast Guard, prompting a search for the rubber boat despite difficult weather conditions and high waves exceeding two meters in height.
Six bodies were recovered yesterday and four people were rescued following the sinking of the boat near the coast of Tobruk.
