Husni Oweidan, Minister of Water Resources in the Government of National Unity, discussed with a delegation from the Austrian company Fluvicon ways to address rising water levels in the city of Zliten during a meeting held at the ministry’s headquarters in the presence of a number of officials and experts.
The meeting discussed the use of modern technologies in wastewater treatment and reuse, as well as strengthening partnerships with specialized international companies to help improve the sector’s efficiency and address existing environmental challenges, according to a government statement posted on its Facebook page yesterday, Wednesday.
Company Presents Technical Solutions
The company presented its technical solutions, including mobile water treatment and purification systems based on membrane and forward osmosis technologies, which allow for rapid intervention in crisis sites without the need for fixed infrastructure, along with case studies from several countries.
The meeting also addressed the environmental situation in Zliten amid the worsening problem of rising water levels, with practical proposals put forward to reduce pollution and address the resulting impacts, amidst an extensive technical discussion on implementation mechanisms.
Both sides agreed to conduct a field visit to Zliten with the participation of specialized technical teams to assess the situation on the ground and take samples, paving the way for urgent and sustainable solutions to mitigate the crisis’s repercussions.
