The Ministry of Defense for the Government of National Unity (GNU) announced that it is strengthening its cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross to implement humanitarian training programs, following a meeting between officials from both sides last week.
A statement from the ministry, posted on its Facebook page, explained that the meeting brought together the director of the ministry’s Office of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law with the head of the Red Cross mission in Libya and his accompanying delegation. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to develop joint cooperation on a number of humanitarian issues.
The statement added that the meeting focused specifically on strengthening training programs related to international humanitarian law, in addition to discussing efforts related to the issue of missing persons and detainees.
According to the statement, both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying cooperation in the coming period, with the aim of enhancing knowledge of the law of armed conflict and working to address related issues.
