The Attorney General’s Office ordered “the suspension of 251 forged national ID numbers” and the arrest of the employee responsible for the forgery, based on the findings of the investigation into the forgery of civil registry data within the jurisdiction of the Tobruk Court of Appeals.
A statement issued by the Office of the Attorney General on Tuesday stated that “the investigation into civil registry forgery, within the jurisdiction of the Tobruk Court of Appeal, traced evidence of forgery involving 50 family records at the Omar al-Mukhtar Civil Registry Office. The investigation confirmed the forgery, identified those responsible, and identified the beneficiaries of the financial gains derived from national ID numbers based on the forged data.”
The statement added that based on “this, the investigation unit decided to refer two beneficiaries to the trial court and ordered the arrest and appearance of the employee responsible for the forgery.”
