The head of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, discussed with the President of the High Council of State, Muhammad Takala, ways to break the current political deadlock and unify national efforts to move toward practical paths that meet the aspirations of the Libyan people for free and fair elections.
During their meeting held on Monday, at the headquarters of the High Council of State in Tripoli, Menfi and Takala reviewed the latest political and economic developments in the country and discussed the current economic crises, according to a post by the High Council of State on its Facebook page.
The council stated that during the meeting, Takala and Menfi emphasized the need to coordinate fiscal and monetary policies to ensure the alleviation of citizens’ suffering, the transparent management of public spending, and the fair distribution of resources.
Takala Insists on Consultation Among Political Bodies
Takala affirmed the council’s commitment to supporting all initiatives aimed at reconciliation and achieving stability, stressing the importance of continuous consultation among political bodies to unify positions on critical issues and lead the country to a phase of lasting stability.
The meeting comes as part of a series of meetings being held by Takala, Menfi, members of the Presidential Council, and political forces to rally support for the stalled political process led by the United Nations Mission, in response to reports regarding attempts at rapprochement between the General Command in Benghazi and the Government of National Unity headed by Abdulhamid Dabaiba.
