The Acting Chief of the General Staff appointed by the Presidential Council, Lieutenant General Salah al-Namroush, discussed with the Commander of the Turkish Second Army, Levent Ergn, the final arrangements and ongoing preparations for the launch of the Flintlock 2026 exercise, scheduled to begin in the city of Sirte on Tuesday.

The meeting, held at Al-Namroush’s office at the General Staff headquarters in Tripoli, was attended by the Secretary-General of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Adel Arhouma, and a number of officers from the General Staff, as part of efforts to promote international cooperation.

Final Arrangements for the Flintlock 2026 Exercise

The General Staff stated on its Facebook page that during the meeting, the two sides discussed “the final arrangements and ongoing preparations for the launch of the joint ‘Flintlock’ exercise, scheduled to begin tomorrow in the city of Sirte, which aims to enhance combat capabilities and improve the level of field coordination among participating forces.”

She added that the two sides discussed ways to develop joint cooperation between the Libyan and Turkish armies, with a focus on supporting efforts to modernize the Libyan military institution and enhance its readiness in accordance with modern professional standards, as well as the conditions of Libyan students sent to study at Turkish military academies and ways to support their academic and training progress, thereby enhancing the preparation of qualified military personnel to serve the Libyan military in the future.

Expanding Military Training Programs Between Libya and Turkey

The two sides emphasized the importance of expanding military training programs, thereby contributing to enhancing the competence of Libyan personnel and benefiting from Turkey’s advanced expertise in the fields of military training and planning.

The General Staff noted that this meeting takes place within the context of supporting international military partnerships and exchanging expertise, thereby contributing to strengthening security and stability and enhancing the capabilities of the Libyan military.
