Speaker of the House of Representatives Aguila Saleh praised the agreement on the state’s unified development spending, describing it as a pivotal step toward unifying public spending, strengthening financial stability, and establishing principles of discipline in resource management.

In a statement issued Saturday, Saleh said the agreement contributes to supporting the national economy, preserves citizens’ purchasing power, and achieves financial balance on a sustainable basis throughout the country.

The signing of this agreement by the House of Representatives and the High Council of State was announced this morning. It is an annex to the Unified Development Agreement, which includes the adoption of the general spending tables for the Libyan state, covering Chapters I, II, and IV, and marks the first consensus on unified spending across the entire Libyan territory in over 13 years.

Saleh: The agreement contributes to the fair distribution of resources

The statement added: “This agreement represents a milestone in the path of economic reform and embodies a sincere national will to prioritize the greater good through the adoption of sound fiscal policies based on transparency and the fair distribution of resources, thereby ensuring the improvement of basic services and advancing the wheels of development and reconstruction.”

Libyan independence free from external interference

The Speaker of the House of Representatives noted that unified spending leads to strengthening confidence in state institutions and safeguarding the independence of Libyan decision-making free from any external interference.

Saleh thanked Central Bank of Libya Governor Naji Issa, the bank’s management, and all technical and financial staff for their pivotal role in achieving this milestone, calling for the continuation of this approach to consolidate financial stability.
