The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) announced on Saturday, that it has completed maintenance work and restored power to a number of areas, including Susa, Tobruk, and Sebha, following damage caused by recent weather disturbances.
The company said in a post on its Facebook page that maintenance teams from the Susa Distribution Department were able to complete maintenance work on the industrial substation, which included tightening and extending low-voltage cables, and installing them on insulators, as well as restoring power, which helped restore electricity to residents.
It added that teams from the Operations and Maintenance Office in Al-Hniwa carried out field work to repair the faults, which included installing a number of poles on the Thirty Radar feeder after it was damaged by severe weather, confirming that the faults were resolved and power was fully restored.
In the same context, the company clarified that maintenance teams in the Susa Distribution District continued their work on tensioning low-voltage overhead lines at the industrial station, where maintenance work was completed and power was restored to the affected areas.
In Sebha, the company noted that emergency maintenance was carried out on low-voltage lines damaged by weather fluctuations by teams from the Operations and Maintenance Office in Ghadwa, confirming that the work was completed and power restored to residents.
Network maintenance in Tobruk
The company also published photos of maintenance teams working east of Tobruk, specifically in the Al-Bardi and Musaid areas under the Tobruk Distribution Department, while carrying out emergency repairs and restoring power.
GECOL confirmed that its technical teams continue to work around the clock to address the effects of weather conditions and ensure the stability of the power grid in various regions.
