The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, discussed with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Libya, Aydar Aganin, the latest developments in the political process in Libya, the issue of the Arctic Metagaz tanker, and ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting, held at council headquarters in Tripoli on Thursday, reviewed the latest political developments in the country and discussed efforts aimed at breaking the deadlock and pushing the political process toward more effective paths, according to a post by the council on its Facebook page.

The two sides addressed a number of technical and environmental issues of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of coordination and cooperation to ensure a responsible response to any developments regarding the Russian tanker, in order to preserve the safety of Libya’s coastline and marine environment.

The meeting also addressed prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in various fields, in a manner that serves mutual interests and supports opportunities for development and stability.
