The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, received an official invitation to visit Turkey, which was presented to him by the Turkish Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begeç, during his visit to Benghazi on Monday.

During his meeting with the Turkish ambassador, Saleh discussed bilateral relations, ways to develop joint cooperation between the two countries, and the latest developments in Libya and the region, according to the Speaker’s Media Center.

The Media Center stated that Saleh “received an official invitation to visit the Republic of Turkey during the meeting.”

The Turkish ambassador’s visit to Benghazi comes two days after the Greek foreign minister’s visit to the city and his meeting with the head of the General Command, Marshal Khalifa Haftar, to discuss issues related to maritime border demarcation, migration, and bilateral relations between the two countries.

Turkey is still awaiting the House of Representatives’ approval of the memorandum of understanding on maritime borders, signed on November 27, 2019, with the former Government of National Accord led by Fayez al-Sarraj, a move Greece opposes.
