The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has completed inspections of the sixth gas unit at the South Tripoli Power Plant in preparation for meeting the growing demand for electricity during the summer peak period.

Specialists from the German company Siemens are overseeing the work, which included inspecting all parts of the unit, as well as calibrating all equipment critical to the unit’s continuity with the grid, according to a statement issued by GECOL.

The statement noted that maintenance and major overhaul programs are continuing in all cities and regions, in accordance with plans established to address the upcoming summer peak, to ensure the readiness of the units and extend their lifespan in support of grid stability and to enhance its efficiency.
