On Thursday evening, the High Council of State extended its congratulations to all Libyans on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, emphasizing that unity and reconciliation are the only way to rebuild Libya.
In a statement, the Council said “To all the noble people of Libya, and to all the peoples of the Islamic nation, we extend our sincerest congratulations and blessings on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, asking Almighty God to accept from everyone their fasting, night prayers, and good deeds, and to return this occasion to us all with goodness, prosperity, and blessings, and to our country with security, stability, progress, and prosperity.”
The Only Way to Build Libya
The High Council of State called on “the people of our one nation to embrace the lofty meanings and noble values embodied in this holiday—namely, tolerance, compassion, and solidarity—to reject all differences, overcome division, and act with a spirit of sincere national responsibility, in order to strengthen communication and cohesion and cement the bonds of brotherhood among all Libyans .
At the conclusion of the statement, the Council emphasized that “unity and reconciliation are the only way to build a nation where security and stability prevail, and to fulfill the aspirations of the Libyan people for a bright future in which everyone enjoys peace and prosperity.”
Friday is the first day of Eid al-Fitr in Libya
Both the Dar al-Ifta in Tripoli and the Supreme Ifta Committee at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs of the government appointed by the House of Representatives in Benghazi announced on Thursday evening that tomorrow, Friday, is the first day of the blessed Eid al-Fitr, following the confirmation of the sighting of the crescent moon of the month of Shawwal.
