New Ministers Take Over Portfolios

The platform stated that the handover ceremonies were conducted in accordance with approved administrative procedures and in the presence of specialized committees from the Cabinet Secretariat, during which the files and responsibilities related to the ministries’ work were handed over, ensuring the continuity of institutional operations and an orderly transfer of responsibilities.

In their remarks on the occasion, the ministers affirmed their commitment to working in accordance with a vision aimed at developing institutional performance and improving service levels, with a focus on implementing approved programs and plans, thereby contributing to enhancing the efficiency of the sectors under their supervision and serving the public interest.

Appointment of New Ministers

The Cabinet of Ministers for the Government of National Unity held its first meeting of 2026 on Wednesday night into Thursday, chaired by Dabaiba and attended by Presidential Council leader Mohamed Al-Manfi and President of the High Council of State Muhammad Takala.

In his remarks during the meeting, Dabaiba said that the newly appointed ministers underwent a training program and specialized workshops under the supervision of the Economic and Social Development Council.

He explained that the changes made to the government lineup aimed to “bring in new blood to certain positions and fill vacancies in vital ministries and sectors,” emphasizing that “competence was the primary criterion in selecting the new ministers,” in addition to “broadening the base of national representation across various regions and cities in Libya—east, west, and south.”
