The Libyan Transportation Projects Implementation Authority announced the completion of the connection between Section 2 and Section 3 of the Obari–Ghat Road Project, and the laying of the final layer of asphalt on the road.

The Authority stated in a press release on Friday that the road will be opened to travelers to and from Obari in the coming days, while work is currently underway to connect the third section to the fourth section (Al-Awinat).

Following this, the second phase of the project will begin toward Qal’at Ghat, with the total length of the road reaching 360 kilometers.

In January 2022, the Government of National Unity signed a contract with a consortium of Egyptian companies to construct and expand this road and the Ajdabiya-Jalu road in the east of the country, at a total cost of approximately 3.734 billion dinars.
