The German Embassy in Libya congratulated the Libyan people on the fifteenth anniversary of the February 17 revolution, at a time when the country is experiencing political polarization and institutional deadlock, as well as worsening economic difficulties.
The embassy said: “We hope that the aspirations of the Libyan people for a future of peace, stability, justice, and prosperity will be realized,” according to a post on its Facebook page on Tuesday.
UN mission: The current phase requires responsible leadership
In a statement on the same occasion, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya called on Libyans to engage in “sincere dialogue and make concessions,” stressing that the current phase requires responsible leadership that puts the national interest above all other considerations.
It praised what she described as the “steadfast aspirations” of the people to build a future of peace, democracy, and prosperity, despite the political and economic challenges facing the country.
It noted that 15 years after the revolution, Libyans remain determined to live in dignity under unified and accountable institutions that represent the will of the people.
