The commander of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Brigade, Al-Ajmi Al-Atiri, mourned Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, saying that he “lived with dignity and died with dignity while fasting.”

Al-Atiri did not mention the circumstances surrounding Saif's assassination in his Facebook post, but wrote: “Woe to the cowardly traitors who sold their souls to please their masters... What will they say to the Lord of the Worlds on the Day when neither money nor masters will avail?”

It is noteworthy that the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq Brigade, led by al-Atiri, was responsible for the arrest of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi in November 2011, during his attempt to flee to southwestern Libya.

On Tuesday evening, the Attorney General's Office announced that Saif al-Islam Gaddafi had been killed by gunfire, after examining his body.

In a related context, people close to Saif spoke about the details of his death. His French lawyer, Marcel Ceccaldi, said that he was killed by a “four-member commando unit,” explaining that “about ten days ago, he learned from one of Saif's close associates that there were problems related to his security.”

His political team said he was assassinated by four gunmen who stormed his home in Zintan yesterday afternoon, adding that “this crime will not go unpunished, and all those involved in planning and carrying it out will be prosecuted and punished.”
