The head of the Judicial Police, Major General Abdel Fattah Deboub, accompanied by prison directors, police officers, and members of Tripoli Judicial Police branch, visited Major General Faraj Jumaa Al-Mabrouk, to check on his health after he was shot in an armed attack following in front of Al-Jadida Prison.

Major General Faraj Jumaa Al-Mabrouk,  the head of the Tripoli Branch of the organization, is receiving medical care at the Qadour Clinic in Tripoli, where he was transferred for treatment immediately after the incident earlier on Thursday.

Solidarity with the head of the Tripoli branch

During the visit, Major General Abdel Fattah Deboub expressed his full solidarity with Major General Faraj Jumaa Al-Mabrouk, wishing him a speedy recovery and a quick return to his duties, stressing that “such attacks will not deter the men of the force from performing their duty to maintain security and the rule of law.”

The Judicial Police said that “the medical staff at the clinic provided a brief explanation of Al-Mabrouk's health condition, confirming that he is stable and that he is receiving the necessary medical care.”

Details of the attack

An official from the Judicial Police told Alwasat that the incident occurred after Major General Al-Mabrouk left the Al-Jadida prison in his private car, where he was forced to slow down due to a speed bump at the end of the street, before he was intercepted by masked gunmen in a car with tinted windows.

He added that the gunmen initially fired randomly into the air, then stormed Major General Al-Mabrouk's car and fired shots at him, injuring him in the leg, before fleeing the scene of the incident. He suggested that the attack “was carried out with the aim of threatening or sending a message, not with the intention of killing.”
