A joint committee affiliated with the Government of National Unity launched a security campaign on five factories to ensure compliance with approved prices and prevent the hoarding or withholding of goods from the market.
The government explained that the campaign was carried out with the participation of the law enforcement department of the Ministry of the Interior and the municipal guard, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, as part of efforts to protect consumers, strengthen market oversight, and enforce the rule of law.
This campaign came in response to a decision by Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dabiaba to form a committee to monitor and control the prices of basic food commodities, ensure their availability in the market to meet the needs of citizens, and take deterrent legal measures against violators to curb price increases, speculation, and monopolization, in coordination with the relevant authorities.
Field visits to five factories
In this context, Major General Abdelhakim Al-Khitouni, member of the committee and director of law enforcement at the General Directorate of Security Operations, accompanied by members of the committee, conducted extensive field visits on Tuesday to control the prices of basic commodities by intensifying inspections of the warehouses of supplier companies in various regions.
The tours included the factories: “Al-Mawsim,” “Al-Sahl Al-Akhdar,” “Al-Zait,” “Al-Zaman Al-Awwal,” and “Wadi Al-Rabee,” to ensure compliance with approved prices and prevent the storage or withholding of goods from the market, thereby ensuring their availability and stability. The law enforcement department confirmed that the campaign recorded observations in preparation for taking the applicable legal measures against any violations that are detected.
On Monday, the government issued a decision to form a committee to monitor and control food prices, monitor their availability, and take deterrent measures to prevent price increases and prevent practices and speculation in prices and monopolies that harm the food security of citizens.
