The Libyan-Indonesian Joint Committee agreed on steps to abolish visas, including exempting holders of diplomatic and special passports, with the aim of facilitating the movement of officials between the two countries.

The two sides also agreed that this exemption would be an important preliminary step towards abolishing visa requirements for citizens of both countries in general as soon as possible, thereby contributing to enhancing mobility, exchange, and economic cooperation, and supporting cooperation and partnership between Libya and Indonesia.

The second session of the committee was held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, on Monday, within the framework of strengthening the existing relations of friendship and cooperation between Libya and Indonesia, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the “Provisional National Unity” government.

The Libyan side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Expatriate Affairs, Imhamed Saeed Zeidan, while the Indonesian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Mohammad Anis Mata, with the participation of representatives from the relevant authorities in both countries.

Economic and trade cooperation and implementation of agreements

According to the statement, both sides affirmed their joint commitment to activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding, expanding the scope of bilateral partnership, and strengthening communication and integration between public and private sector institutions, thereby contributing to supporting common interests and achieving sustainable development in both countries.

At the end of the meeting, both sides expressed their “satisfaction with the positive and constructive atmosphere that prevailed during the committee's work” and affirmed their commitment to continue coordination and follow-up to implement what had been agreed upon.
