Mohamed Menfi, the leader of Libya's Presidential Council, received an official invitation to participate in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May of next year in Nairobi, Kenya.
The French ambassador to Libya, Thierry Vallat, delivered the invitation to Menfi during their first meeting after the approval of his diplomatic credentials.
During the meeting, Vallat affirmed Paris' keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand the scope of partnership between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest, according to a statement by the Presidential Council.
The meeting also addressed the latest political and security developments in Libya, as well as economic strategies and support for stability initiatives.
Menfi, for his part, stressed the importance of continuing to coordinate with the French side and of supporting international and regional efforts aimed at ending transitional stages in a manner that serves the Libyan people's aspirations for security and prosperity.
