Mohamed Menfi, the leader of the Presidential Council, said that Libya “will continue to support the Palestinian struggle to regain their full, inalienable rights.”
Menfi made this statement in conjunction with the United Nations' commemoration of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
He stressed Libya's firm and unwavering support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and to establish an independent, sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
November 29 is the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Since 1977, the UN General Assembly has designated this day to honor the Palestinian people's struggle for their rights against the occupation.
According to the United Nations' official website, this year's observance comes amid a fragile ceasefire in Gaza following a wave of intense violence and a humanitarian crisis that left tens of thousands dead and forced hundreds of thousands to flee.
