The head of Libya's Government of National Unity (GNU), Abdulhamid Dabaiba, met with Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation and partnerships in five security areas.
According to the “Our Government” platform, Dabaiba received Yerlikaya and his accompanying delegation at the Prime Minister's Office in Tripoli on Monday.
GNU Interior Minister Imad Trabelsi was present during the meeting, which focused on strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
Areas of security cooperation
According to the platform's Facebook page, the meeting addressed "aspects of partnership in the areas of internal security, training and qualification programs aimed at raising the readiness of Interior Ministry personnel, as well as support for technical capabilities and institutional development within the security agencies."
The two sides also discussed combating illegal immigration, securing borders, and benefiting from Turkish expertise in managing security operations and promoting stability.
For his part, Dabaiba affirmed the government's commitment to “building effective partnerships with friendly countries, foremost among them Turkey, to support national security and consolidate security institutions capable of meeting challenges.”
