Marshal Khalifa Haftar issued a decision appointing Major General Ahmed Salem Al-Drisi, Commander of the Sirte Operations Room, as Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, which were led by Saddam Haftar.

Article 2 of Decision No. (300) of 2025, published by the Barasa tribe's office on its Facebook page Wednesday, stipulates that the decision is effective immediately and any contrary provisions are revoked.

On Tuesday, Major General Ahmed Salem Al-Drisi participated in an expanded meeting with Saddam Haftar, Major General Abdullah Al-Hamali and the commanders of several military regions affiliated with the General Command.

Al-Drisi is one of the most prominent military leaders affiliated with the General Command. In 2016, he led control operations in Ajdabiya and the Oil Crescent region, in addition to leading the operations room in Sirte.

His appointment is part of a series of assignments announced by Marshal Haftar since early August when he launched “Vision 2030.” An initiative that aims to restructure the forces affiliated with the General Command extensively. It follows the promotion of Saddam Haftar to Deputy Commander-in-Chief and the appointment of Lieutenant General Khalid Haftar as Chief of General Staff.
