The Foreign Minister of Turkey, Hakan Fidan, landed on Wednesday at Tripoli's Mitiga International Airport, on his first visit to Libya in the position.
Fidan was received at the airport by the Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa and the Turkish Ambassador to Libya Kenan Yilmaz.
At a press conference on Tuesday, Fidan announced his country's intention to reopen its consulate in Benghazi.
Fidan stressed that Turkey does not want to see clashes between eastern and western Libya or the south, continuing: "We do not want the current division between east and west to become permanent, we believe that this division must be resolved in a peaceful manner through dialogue and with the consent of all parties."
