An official delegation from the United States, headed by the US Special Envoy to Libya, Ambassador Richard Norland, held discussions with Marshal Khalifa Haftar, on ways to advance the political process towards elections and the efforts of UN envoy Abdullah Bathily in this regard.
 
Haftar received the US officials at General Command headquarters in the Rajma area of Benghazi.

In addition to Norland, the delegation included the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Joshua Harris, and the Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Libya, Jeremy Brendt.

According to the General Command, the US officials stressed “the importance of coordination and cooperation between the General Command and the United States of America in combating terrorism and extremism,” and praised the role of the General Command “in preserving security and stability in Libya and its positive impact on the countries of the region in general.” 

The General Command added that Haftar noted “the importance of advancing the political process in Libya to reach the stage of holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections, and the need for the United Nations Mission in Libya to make more balanced and effective efforts to achieve the aspirations and hopes of the Libyan people.”

For its part, the US Embassy in Libya reiterated support through its X account for "efforts to unify the Libyan army, preserve Libyan sovereignty, and ensure that reconstruction efforts in Derna and other flood-affected areas are implemented in a timely and transparent manner, based on expert assessments and the needs of the people."

The embassy also called on Libyan parties to "come together to ensure an appropriate environment that enables Libyans to freely choose their representatives as Libya prepares for the upcoming municipal elections."
